Pomeroy Jr (very bad writing) but cant be helpt Camp Wadsworth Hazel Green, Ky October 30th, 1861 Dear Father, It has been a very long time since I have written home. I have had so much to do. But I must not put of any longer. Our Reg is incampt in a little town called Hazel Green, Wolf Co Ky. I am very well and get along very well indeed. Capt and Hatch got here on the 26th was very glad to get my watch and the letters. I hope I will continue to get letters from home, tell Ellie & Sallie that I will write them as soon as I can. I will tell you the towns that we have past through so you can trace me out. We left Portsmouth for Maysville Ky marched through Lewisburg Ky past Millwood and incampt in Clemensburg Ky next past through Tilton [page 2] and incamped in Shurham. Shurham is on the Licking river. march to Sharpsburg (Bath Co.) there went to Mountstearling (Montgomery Co.) and incamped. then from there we went Hazel Green incampt twice on the way. We expect to go to Preston. I do not know what county it is in (You must excuse my poor writing for it is very cold) Tell Ellie or Sallie I would like to have anything they want to sent me, preticular a pr of warm gloves and good socks the socks that we get are short and not very good. I have had very bad luck with my glasses this morning they were stept on and broke all to _____ (?peaces?). Will you please send me a pr like those you sent me before you got them in Pomeroy. Send them in a strong case and by male. (It is very cold) I would like to have another pr from Cincinnate those with hooks for the ear. (No. 9) Could you send me a gold pen with my glasses.
