I have got to go on picket tomorow and hope it has stop raining by morning. Walter has been cocking[sp] some peas this after noon but I don't like them very well. I almost forgot to say eny thing about them drawers you sent they [page 2] are just the thing for a solder to have. We are going to march in a few days & we have turned over all of our clothing that we can spair. I do not know where we are going. We may not go and I hope we wont for it is very bad wether now but it is only for fifty days and that is not a great while. We have four new recruits in our company and a good meny more in the regiment and ther is not meny sick in our regiment at present. I saw Si Mitchel to day he is well and so is rit more[sp-Moore]. I suppose you have heard that burt price is dead. Wal have you got eny thing to live on this winter and have you got keeping for your cow. Wal I dont think of much to write but I will do the best I can. Where is maggie now. I hav not hurd from her in a long time but then I suppose she don't care or think much about me for she has plenty of compney by ______in. We will be home next fall at this time if nothing hapens. "burt" Price was David Burton Price, son of James T. Price and Zaida Witherell. His tombstone inscription in Ossian Center Cemetery reads: DAVID B. son of James T. & Zaida PRICE of Co.F. 136 Reg. N.Y.S.V. He was wounded at Atlanta,Ga. on the 26 of July and died on the 18th of Oct. 1864 AGED 20 Yrs. 6 Mo. 28 D
