We got our pay last yesterday and last nite I got the five dolars and stamps that you sent me and uncle Dans letter. I am sorry that father came home h__ I was in hopes that he would do different after going so long without it. John rote to me that he did not think he would live. I am shure that John rites curis letters to me but never mind that now [page 2] for we all have our failings. We are guarding the railrods now. Walter caut a reb the other day. He went acrost the railrod were Walt was and he halted him and the felow started and run. Walt snatched a gun and went after him he run about a half mile before he got site of him then he told him to stop or he would put a ball through him the fellow stoped and Walter brought him to camp. Walter has gone after boards to day with a team we exspect to stay here some time if nothing hapens we have got a good camp and prety good huts. We take the best houses in the country and tair them down to fix our shantys the house that I got my boards from was a very nice one [page 3] I got a letter from famy scoon the other nite and Walter got one from aunt Elenor they were all well that was at home the boys have all been sick with the fever. I sent my picture to famey and thay sed that I did not look a bit as they thought I did and I guess I dont. Do you have any peaches to eat we have lots of them here and all we have to do to get them is to pick them of the trees. the rebs **nt stop us, I have have [duplicated word] very easy time were nothing to do. We have pleanty bread and coffee beans and fresh beef onions and potatoes. I Cant think of any more this time so good buy. I shall send twenty dolars in this. Isaac H.
