My health is good although I am some what tired out it has been very wet all of this month untill within two or three days it is now very hot I have had to go back to Ackworth four or five times lately with wounded and it has kept me very busy it is about Seventeen miles from here to Ackworth I have no news to write we are here within three or four miles of Marietta I do not know how long we Shall have to Stay here the Rebs have a very Strong ***** to take but we have taken as Strong ones from them and I guess we Shall get them out of this before long [page 2] I have just received a letter from Major Lamson inquiring about John Sawyer I am going to write to him this evening you need not let any one have this letter for I should be ashamed to have anybody but my own folks See it for I have got a poor pen and it is very worn my hand trembles and take it all together it is a hard looking mess I have had to wash my body with Salt and water this afternoon I am all broke out with the heat in big blotches I want you to use all the money you want if it takes all we Shall probably be paid after this Campaign is over I want you to be Sure to have your teeth fixed I can not think of any more to write George is well Frank is in the hospital he did not want I Should Say anything about it to you for he said you would let Cal know it he is not very sick [page 3] the Brigade Surgeon thought he had better not go back but keep along with the hospital untill he got recruited again you need not Say any thing to Cal about if for if any thing Should happen So that he could not write I will let you know it I wrote you a letter the 15th of June I think have you ever got it I wrote for some letter paper and envelopes I have to borrow this well I will Close for this time by giving my love to Father & Mother and all the rest and except a large Share your self I remain as ever your husband William ==========================================================================
