I wrote a letter to you a week ago to day I think. I promised in that to write again the next Sunday as I supposed I should have a letter from you by that time. I did not get any and I neglected to write So I thought I would wait untill I got a letter before I would write I did not get any till to day. It was mailed March 27th. The mail has not been very regular for a few days but I guess they will get it agoing again bye & bye. My health is very good now. I had a bad spell after I got back from Nashvill which lasted me about a week. It was the same as I used to have at home a severe pain --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 2 over my right eye and headache. but I am all right now. the Doct give me some medicine that cured me. We have had very stormy wether here for the last three weeks. but I think we have got about over with it. talk about your Sunny South. I see about as heavy snow storm here a few days ago as I ever see in Mass at the same time. News is done gone here as the natives say we do not here any at all what we do get is generally stale before it gets to us. One piece of news I have heard to day is that our Corps the 11th & 12th are to be consolidated and to be called the first corps. I do not know whether it will effect our ****** here in the ambl corps or not I hope it wont for the reason we have got the organization Complete now our first Lt Comdg the Division is a first rate fellow his name is Kitchell --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 3 he is a tip top fellow is from the 33rd New Jersey. the Lt. Cmdg our Brigade is from the 136th N.Y. his name is True he is a good fellow he is young yet haint got through growing hardly he is one of these by golls thunderation sort of fellows books has done more for him than nature but then I get along with him first rate for the very reason that he has to ask me about the business well I will write a little more and then close You sent me my photograph. I had it a few days and broke it I gave it to a fellow here in the Corps for I can not take care of such things you said you should send the Children out by H Davis if you do not I wish you wouldn't although I should like to have them very much for I shall lose or break them and for that reason I should rather not have them you --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 4 say that you have not received that stick yet I wrote to Bemis about it and it ought to have got there before this time. I will send one to Joe and another to Father if I can get a chance there is a man going up to morrow on the Mountain he is going to cut me a couple sticks I wrote you a letter one week ago to day with Hookers picture and Silas letters in it did you get it Well Liz I want you to take care of the Children and not let them get sick if you can help it.
