Officers SCHMIDT and RAFERTY, the officers who run on that beat, are not in the least to blame. They have an unusually large beat, extending from the west side of Illinois to the east side of West street; from the south side of Washington to the north side of Merrill. On the occasion above mentioned these of- ficers, in company with a Sentinel reporter, were on their beat attending to their duties, and they should not be blamed in the matter. They were on hand as soon as possible, and made the arrests. The HARTER crowd, including GEORGE and MOLLIE ALICE POLSTER, CHARLES POLSTER and KATE HOGARTY were each salted to the tune of $30 and costs by the Mayor Wednesday, for engaging in the disgraceful South Illinois street row on Tues- day night. Their fines were neither paid nor stayed, and they were all remanded to jail.
