              DEATH OF CAPT. JOHN P. MOORE
              
              Chicago, Aug. 26 - Capt. JOHN P. MOORE, 
            a veteran lake captain, died at his home
            today of heart disease. His health had
            been failing for the past year. Capt. MOORE
            commenced sailing in 1850 and continued for
            19 years, when he was made manager of the
            floating property of the Peshtigo Lumber
            Company at Peshtigo. He held this position
            for 15 years, coming back to Chicago and
            retiring from business in 1885. The funeral
            is Wednesday morning.
