(extracted) CAPT. LOUIS GUTHRIE, who died from exposure and exaus- tion on the waterlogged barge Annie Sherwood, was a resident of Chicago. Among his commands on the lakes at different periods were the schooner Lucia A. Simpson and steamer Joys. During the early months of the present season he commanded the steamer Johnson, formerly the D. W. Powers. CAPT. GUTHRIE was a man of more than ordinary ability and culture. He had attained the age of forty-nine years, and leaves a wife and three children. ===========================================================================
