The funeral will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, from the residence of his sister, No. 3418 Prairie avenue. [Mr. FITZGERALD was born in Dunmore, County Galway, Ireland, in the year 1810. He came to America while quite young and studied civil engineer- ing. In 1832 he came to Chicago, and in 1833 was elected City Surveyor, which office he held for three years. In 1837 he was made Assistant City Engineer, which position he remained in for two years. He was subsequently chosen a member of the Board of Supervisors. Mr. FITZ- GERALD was considered an authority on survey- ing as the author of a surveyors and engineers' manual.] ==========================================================================
