           Elgin Sergeant Is Killed
             in Normandy Tank Fight.
             
           The war department yesterday notified
         Mr. and Mrs. JOHN EKSTROM, 226 Ann st.,
         Elgin, that their son, Sgt. RICHARD V.
         EKSTROM, 24, was killed in action with
         his tank battalion in Normandy July 7.
         Sgt. EKSTROM worked as an automobile
         mechanic in Crystal Lake before enter-
         ing service in February, 1943.
