Michael J. Driscoll died at his residence, 593 La Salle avenue, last Sunday afternoon, of inflammatory rheu- matism, which reached his heart. He was ill but one week, having been compelled through illness to get off the steamer Soo City, only on the Sunday previous to his death. The deceased was born at Buffalo and was a sailor from boyhood. He came to Chicago about 30 years ago and soon after became a tug captain, which occupation he followed for many years on various tugs and was very successful. At the time of his decease he was master of the steamer Soo City, this being his fifth season on her, prior to which he was master of the steamers Lora and R. J. Gordon. He was well and widely known by marine men and was good-hearted and open- handed and would always do a good turn to a friend in need. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Aldine Court, Royal Arcanum and Odd Fellows. His funeral, which takes place this Thursday morning, will be conducted by the Knights of Pythias and he will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery. ===========================================================================
