F. Tracy, loaded with wood, arrived in port from Grand Haven at 7:30 last evening, bearing the tidings that her command- er, CAPT. ARCHIBALD DOYLE, had fallen overboard and was drowned. The accident happened off Waukegan at 3:30 in the afternoon, and although the crew made every effort to save their Captain, their efforts were in vain, as before they could lower a boat and pull to the assistance of the drowning man he sank from sight. The Captain's wife, who accompanied her husband on all of his trips, witnessed the scene from the deck of the schooner. CAPT. DOYLE was one of the oldest and best-known men on the lakes, over which he had sailed for upwards of thirty years. He was the owner of the vessel which he sailed as well as the cargo. ==========================================================================
