He has betrayed no partiality for any particular color of hair, as he has attempted to secure auburn braids as well as those of a darker hue. Within ten days three attempts have been made by this mysterious personage to snip off the braids of little girls. His first effort was successful but the last two failed because the owners thwarted his purpose. The most recent attempt, made on Saturday night on the Lake-Front, to carry away the tresses of MISS ERNA GERDA, No. 208 Seventy-seventh street, although unsuccessful, has attracted attention on account of its being the first attempt of the kind in the down-town district. LIEUT PRESTON has detailed two men to look after the case. The other two cases - those of LAURA BOOTH on Nov. 13 and ALMAH MILLER one week ago Sunday morning - had ceased to attract attention until the miscreant broke forth again on the Lake-Front. In each case the "clipper" has been described as a well-dressed young man, and he has always attacked a girl whose braids were allowed to hang down her back. ===========================================================================
