HAMMACK Dated March 27, 1899 Proved May 3, 1899 Georgia – Taliaferro County I JOSEPH D. HAMMACK, of said State and County, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will & testament hereby revoking all wills heretofore made by me: - Item First: I give, devise and bequeath unto MY BELOVED WIFE JULIA A. HAMMACK, the following described property, to wit: - All that tract or lot of land situated in the town of Crawfordville whereon I reside, containing about one (1) acre, more or less, bounded on South by Main Street, running East & West; on East and West by side street running from said main street to a back street which bounds said property on the North. Also, all that tract or lot of land, whereon is situated the house known as the gin-shop, situated in the town of Crawfordville, near Georgia Railroad depot, bounded on the North by said back street running towards the depot; on East and West by side street and on South by lot of W. C. Chapman. Also, all that tract or lot of land situated in the town of Crawfordville, said County, known as the Jim Hammack lot, bounded on the North and East public Streets; on South by lands of Titus Richards, and on West by Presbyterian Church lot, on which tract of land there are no improvements, which tract of land continue about one-fourth (1/4) of an acre, more or less. Also, all that tract or lot of land, situated in the 606 district G.M., Taliaferro County, Georgia known as the Woodall place, containing Three Hundred and fifty four (354) acres, more or less, bounded on North by lands formerly belonging to George Mitchell; on East by public road to ______ and lands of C. C. Lucas; on South by lands of C. S. Lucas, and on west by lands of H. M. Holden. Also, all that tract or lot of land, known as the Peek place situated in the 608th district G.M. Taliaferro County, Georgia, containing One Hundred and Seventy five (175) acres, more or less, adjoining lands of Jno. F. Holden, Susan Peek, Parker and others. Also, all that tract or lot of land situated in the 608th district G.M. Taliaferro County, Georgia, known as the Tom Smith(?) place containing twenty-four (24) acres, more or less, adjoining lands of Shep Peek, J. M. Lacy and others. Also all that tract or lot of land, known as the Acree(?) place, situated in the 603rd district G.M. Taliaferro County, Georgia, containing Two Hundred and Eighteen (218) acres, more or less, bounded on the North by public road leading from Crawfordville to Level Hill; on East by lands of Frank Rhodes and J. A. Kendrick, and South by lands of Horace M. Holden, and on West by lands of J. N. Chapman. Also all that tract or lot of land, known as Stephens place, situated in 604th district G.M. Taliaferro County, Georgia, containing One Hundred and fifty (150) acres, more or less, on which Julius(?) Taylor now resides as my tenant, adjoining lands of estate of Emma Richards, deceased, lands of Mrs. Buford Bird, lands of estate of Mrs. H. R. Portwood and others. Item Second: I will devise and bequeath to my BELOVED WIFE, JULIA A. HAMMACK, all of the property hereinbefore described free from all charge or limitation whatever, to her own proper use, benefit and behoof forever in fee-simple. Item Third: I give, devise and bequeath to MY BELOVED WIFE, JULIA A. HAMMACK, free from all charges or limitations whatever, to her own proper use, benefit and behoof, forever in fee-simple, any and all property both real and personalty, including notes and accounts, and any and all other property of whatever kind and description which I may own or have at my death. I give, devise and bequeath to my said wife the property referred to in this item, in addition to the property described or referred to in the first item of this, my last will and testament. Item Fourth: My executrix, hereinafter named, need not make any return as executrix of my last will and testament and no inventory or appraisement of my estate need be had. An inventory and appraisement of my estate and any returns by my said executrix hereinafter named are all dispensed with, as far as the law permits me to allow them to be dispensed with. Item Fifth: I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint MY SAID BELOVED WIFE, JULIA A. HAMMACK, MY EXECUTRIX of and to this my last will and testament.
