May 18, 1919) Crawfordville Advocate-Democrat, May 1919 MR. W. C. TAYLOR DIED SUNDAY MORNING Mr. W. C. Taylor, one of the best known and most highly esteemed citizens of Taliaferro county, died at his home near Crawfordville early Sunday morning, after an illness covering a period of several months. Mr. Taylor was 67 years of age, and had been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years. He was a most lovable, kind-hearted gentleman, and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. Several years ago the people of Taliaferro county honored him with the office of Tax Receiver, which position he filled with credit both to himself and to the county. After retiring from the office of Tax Receiver, he devoted his time to farming, and was one of the most progressive and successful farmers of the county. Mr. Taylor was a very public spirited citizen, and was always ready to do anything or assist in any movement that would promote the interests of the county and its people, and his death leaves a vacancy in our citizenship that will be hard to fill. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife and seven children. The children are Messrs. R. L., S.G., A.G., and Misses Susie, Myrtice and Lola Taylor, of Crawfordville, Mr. W. O. Taylor of Opelika,, Ala., and Mr. J. A. Taylor, of Cartersville, Ga. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow. The interment occurred Monday afternoon in the Bethany cemetery, after a short funeral service at the grave conducted by Dr. M. W. Doggett. =========================================================================== (Note: William Chesley Taylor was married twice. His first wife was Arabella Peek, daughter of Richard D.L. Peek and Marian Antionette M. Swain, by whom he had one son, Robert Lovell Taylor. After her death he remarried to Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Darracott, daughter of John W. Darracott and Susan Ann Chapman of Taliaferro Co.)
