MOLLIE SELDEN The Augusta Chronicle Saturday, February 8, 1936 MRS MOLLIE SELDEN, CLAIMED BY DEATH FUNERAL IS TODAY Final rites for Mrs. Mollie Josephine Selden, who died at the residence of her sister. Mrs. H. B King, on the Kissing Bower road, yesterday morning at 4:52 o’clock, will be held at the graveside in the Summerville cemetery this afternoon at 4 o’clock. The Rev. John A. Wright will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marion Ridgely, Charles H. Phinizy, Coles Phinizy, H. Campbell Chafee, Albert T. Davidson and James M. Hull, Jr. Mrs. Selden was the wife of the late James M. Selden and the daughter of the Late Oswell Cashin and Josephine Thompson[sic] Cashin, both members of prominent Augusta families. She was a native Augustan but recently had divided her time between here and Sewanee, Tenn. She had been living with her sister since last December. Mrs. Selden was prominently associated with civic and patriotic organizations in this city and was a member of the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the confederacy. Her charming manner and cultured bearing combined with her kindly Christian nature and pleasing personality to make her one of the most admired and respected citizens of this city. Her loss will be felt deeply by all who knew her and her position in the community will be difficult to fill. She is survived by three sons, John A. Selden, Macon; Karl W. Selden, Charlotte, N.C.; and James M. Selden, Sewanee and Augusta; one sister, Mrs. King; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. =========================================================================== TRANSCRIBER NOTE The mother of Mollie (Cashin) Seldon was Mary Josephine Thomas, NOT Josephine Thompson.
