The Territory of Arkansas was admitted to the Union as the 25th state on June 15, 1836. It is the 29th largest state by area, covering a total of 53,179 sq. miles. The Capital, and largest city, is Little Rock. It is bordered by Louisiana to the south, Missouri to the north, Mississippi and Tennessee to the east, Texas to the southwest and Oklahoma to the west.
