Braden of Colbert County Alabama being in my usual health and mind do make this my last will. First, I intend my wife Martha Braden to have the proceeds of ten shares of stock in the Mountain Mills Factory, and the interest of a note for eleven hundred dollars in gold and another note of five hundred and fifty dollars in greenbacks and if the interest on the notes and the proceeds of the factory shares should not be sufficient for her comfortable support to use the principal of these notes as far as it may be necessary for her support. Second, I give to my son William's heirs the Northwest 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of section 7, T5, R10W and all of the S.E. 1/4 S12, T5, R11 lying North and East of Spring Creek, S.W. 1/4 of N.W. 1/4 S 12, T5, R11 and the East 1/2 of N.E. 1/4 of S 12 T5, R11W, together about 170 acres. Third, My will is my son Armstead's lawful heirs, if any, have the balance of my land [unreadable] the part of S.E. 1/4 of S 12, T5, R11, the S.W. 1/4 of S 12 T5 R11 and the S.E. 1/4 of the west 1/4 S 12 T5, R11 and S.E. 1/4 S.E. 1/4 S 11, T5 R11 and the N.E. 1/4 of N.E. 1/4 of Section 14 T5, R11 together about 440 acres. All the personal property. I wish my two sons divide themselves into two lots and by lot one have choice. If Armstead should not have any lawful heirs, then I wish William's heirs to have all of the land after Armstead death. /s/ A. Braden July 14th 1873 P.S. I intend my wife to have all of the money that may be on [unreadable] and all of the debts that can be collected under her control for her support or what may be necessary for her support. As my wife will not likely spend all of the money from the interest of the debts I want the balance to go to the schooling of William's and Armstead's children.
